The story behind ParasharaGyanJyoti
I built ParasharaGyanJyoti because I couldn't find an astrology tool that actually did the math before generating an interpretation.
Most apps give you a Sun sign or a Rising sign and call it a Kundli. But real Vedic astrology is more precise than that — it's about the exact degree of every planet, which nakshatra the Moon occupies, and which Dasha period is active right now. Generic horoscope generators don't calculate any of this. They pattern-match on birth month and call it your destiny.
I've studied Jyotish for years, working through the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS) and spending considerable time with the Karmvipak Samhita — a classical text on Moon nakshatra karma that most modern astrology apps ignore entirely. The Karmvipak system maps each of the 108 Moon nakshatra-pada positions to specific past-life karma themes and remedies. I catalogued all 108 of them for this project.
What Makes This Different
ParasharaGyanJyoti uses Swiss Ephemeris — the same library used by professional astronomy software — to calculate planetary positions with arc-second precision. When you give it your birth details, it doesn't look up a pre-computed table. It runs the actual orbital mechanics calculation for your exact moment and place of birth.
The muhurta database covers over 1,800 auspicious planetary combinations sourced from classical texts. The Dasha calculations follow the Vimshottari system from the BPHS. Every interpretation layer traces back to classical source material, not to modern Western-influenced pop astrology.
Why a Custom GPT?
Astrology interpretation requires context. You're not just asking "what sign is Mars in" — you're asking what it means for your specific chart, your current period, and your question. A conversational AI interface is the right medium for that kind of contextual reasoning. The API handles the calculations; the GPT handles the synthesis.
I made it free because access to this kind of analysis shouldn't require a paid astrologer consultation. The knowledge is in the classical texts. The calculations are open-source mathematics. The only bottleneck was putting it together — and that's what this project does.
